Where the Curlew flies ...'

The North York Moors - come and experience this beautiful area from the Barn's unique setting

Walking country

The North York Moors National park is a fantastic area for outdoor activities, including walking. We have the largest area of moorland in the uk around us  but there are also many woodland tracks and river walks.  The 'dinosaur' coast with many coastal paths and beach walks is another nearby destination.

The Barn is a great starting point for walks of varying length and we are lucky to have some superb cafes and pubs nearby when needing refreshment or for a tasty meal at the end of your day.

Whitby is 9 miles away

A short walk from the Barn; visit the engine sheds for the North York Moors Railway.  Steam trains run regularly between Whitby and Pickering.  The main line train also stops in Grosmont and runs from Whitby to Middlesbrough.

Whitby was recently voted Britain's favourite seaside destination.  Enjoy the a long sandy beach when the tide is out, stretching to Sandsend.  Surfing, paddle boarding, dog walking and fishing are some of the activities that can be enjoyed here.  Nearby is  Black Nab - a favourite photographers haunt.
